Having lived mostly in our home state of Louisiana, my husband’s work moved us around a little later in life and landed us in North Texas two years ago. We thought it would be difficult to find somewhere that felt like home, but the beautiful Heritage neighborhood in Keller has quickly become that for our family with three grown children.
I had done my research and knew this area was one of the best choices for top-rated schools for my youngest son, who was a sophomore in high school when we first moved here. Central High School in Keller ISD (KISD) has proven to be just that and we couldn’t be happier with the education and schools.
Additionally, Heritage is close to just about everything in the Dallas Fort Worth metroplex. With easy access to the main roads, airport, downtown, and even local Universities, it made this a great location for my family.
However, our happiness and comfort with the Heritage area also comes from the many wonderful amenities Heritage offers. There is always something to keep us active, with walking paths, the neighborhood pool and waterpark, volleyball and tennis courts, and a fun playground for those with younger children.

The amenity center is an excellent bonus, too, for hosting events.
One of my favorite things to do is take long walks on the beautiful, clean, and well kept walking paths.
Heritage has something for everyone of all ages. Young families claim to love the neighborhood waterpark, trails, and many community events, such as the Easter egg hunt, Christmas event, dive-in movies, food truck events, and amazing 4th of July fireworks show.

An added benefit to Heritage is the close proximity to shopping and restaurants! I am surrounded by any type of restaurant you could imagine. A few of our regular favorites are Chuy’s, Mod Pizza, and Razoos. Being original “Rajin Cajuns” ourselves, another thing that makes us feel at home is the fun Keller Crawfish Krawl festival every April!
I love to shop but am a simple gal, so I am ecstatic that I am so close to my favorite stores, Hobby Lobby, TJ Maxx, and Costco. I also appreciate that I can hop on the interstate in just a few minutes!
Just a minute away is my top favorite feature of the area that displays “where city meets country.” In true Texan fashion, I love the Texas Longhorns in the pasture on the corner of North Riverside and Heritage Trace Parkway in the Alliance Town Center area. If you haven’t ever read the story of the adorable deer, Cami, who likes to hang out with her friend the Longhorn, it’s a must-read. I smile every time I see Cami and the Longhorn together! If you’d like to check them out, it’s recommended to park near the area at the SE corner of Hillwood Parkway and Amador Drive.
